"When I arrived in Cardiff I really liked the city and its people, who were very friendly and welcoming. After living here for two years I still love the city. I think it has everything you need; its not too big and for students it’s the perfect place to be. My teachers have a lot of experience in dealing with international students, which I really like. When I finish this course I will be more than prepared to start my undergraduate studies."
The 2010 Guardian and Times Good University Guides rank UWIC amongst the top universities in the UK. UWIC was also ranked as 4th in the UK for the quality of its International student experience by the International student Barometer (ISB), which surveys students at more than 80 universities. The excellent facilities that the University offers and the committed and enthusiastic academic staff go a considerable way towards explaining this success. With nearly 1,000 international students enrolled at UWIC from over 50 different countries, the University has a unique multi-cultural mix. However, because the University is still relatively small, the atmosphere is very friendly and our staff provides a supportive environment that is conducive to study.
Academic strengths
Building upon a long-standing and proud tradition, UWIC has an established reputation for the provision of professionally and vocationally focused courses, supported by a broad programme of applied research and consultancy, with many of the academic schools receiving national and international recognition for their work.
UWIC’s academic programmes are designed to serve students’ needs and aspirations and to further their career and personal development. The University is organised into five academic schools and also has two residential campuses.
UWIC graduates popular with employers

"I am finding the International Foundation Course very interesting. I can now discuss business and management in English, which I haven’t done before. The teachers here are really caring and friendly, so I have not had any problems with my studies. After only a short time in UWIC I made a lot of friends and my English has improved. Cardiff is a big city but it is not crowded. I think Cardiff is a really good place to study and enjoy your time safely."
UWIC’s students benefit from the excellent links that the University has with industry and from the highly vocational nature of the courses we offer. 95% of all UWIC students find suitable employment or have enrolled on higher-level courses within six months of graduating. This reflects the close links that UWIC strives to maintain with employers and makes UWIC one of the premier universities in the UK in terms of career prospects.
World-class facilities
UWIC students benefit from some of the best facilities in the UK, including world-class library and IT resource centres, sports facilities and accommodation. Students also have access to the range of sports facilities located on site, including a gym, swimming pool, football and rugby pitches, tennis centre and the National Indoor Athletic Centre. UWIC is currently investing £50m into its estate.
