Bangor University

ELCOS (the English Language Centre for Overseas Students) is the English Language Centre in Bangor University. The centre provides a full range of courses including undergraduate & postgraduate pre-sessional courses of varying lengths depending on one’s current English language ability, short summer General English courses, and in-sessional language support courses for current undergraduate & postgraduate students. Bangor University is situated on the coast of North Wales next to the Snowdonia National Park and the Isle of Anglesey. The area is one of great natural beauty and of particular interest to people interested in outdoor activities such as mountain climbing, hill walking, cycling, sailing etcetera.

The summer General English and communication skills course is open to anybody over 17 years of age who wishes to improve his or her ability to speak and understand English. The emphasis is on spoken communication but all other skills are covered too. Students on this course have access to a full social programme including trips and other activities including a film evening and a sports evening. The trips programme includes visits to Chester, Liverpool, Manchester and other interesting cities (there is a nominal fee for the trips). En-suite accommodation on campus can be arranged.
